Vintage
Vintage jewellery refers to piece that is less than 100 years old, but is generally greater than 50 years old, so anything newer than 1925 is technically vintage. The term is more loosely used these days for anything that has been used. Vintage jewellery includes later Art Deco, Retro, and Mid-Century jewellery. The fun thing about buying vintage jewellery is that, sooner or later, it will become an antique!

Vintage jewellery is technically any piece that is less than 100 years old, and includes Art Deco, Retro and Mid-Century jewellery. The Art Deco Era used platinum as well as two-tone gold. In the early part of the Retro Modern Era (1945-1960), Hollywood-inspired pieces were colourful, bold and flamboyant. Gold became the metal of choice because platinum was not available to the jewellery industry during WWII. The jewellery of the 1960’s was inspired by Jacqueline Kennedy and other celebrities. Vintage jewellery can also be inspired by any of the jewellery eras of the past.
