Rose Cut Rings
Rose cut diamonds have a flat or flattish base and a rounded faceted top. They are old cut diamonds which were fashioned in a way to maximise the size of the stone and were also designed to glow in candlelight, which was the main source of lighting back in the day, giving them a rich warmth and glow. Rose cut diamonds have a flat or flattish base and a rounded faceted top. They are old cut diamonds which were formed by cleaving off a piece of diamond to give the flat base and fashioned in a way to maximise the size of the stone. The flat base was backed by silver or gold and they were designed to glow in candlelight, which was the main source of lighting back in the day... They have a warmth about them that is charming and deeply beautiful. As the sophistication of cutting increased, they became more facetted and more intricately shaped but the base remained the same. We absolutely adore them and also use modern rose cut stones in our Future Antiques range of jewellery.
